Yes the whole campaign of getting women into playing games is pretty awful I do agree but I'm talking more about encouraging women to get into the actual industry. Whether this individual was over exposed or not at least Ubisoft are making some kind of an effort.

and every attempt ive seen to encourage female gamers has been patronising (sometimes hilariously patronising). "frag dolls" was just awful. the women's magazine ad campaign for the wii made me want to vomit up all my internal organs. my girlfriend, who has been playing games (mostly FPSers) for about a decade (and whose username i just accidentally posted under) would agree

i wasnt by any means saying "eww, she's ugly". i was just pointing out the ridiculousness of the fuss over her; if someone who looked like penelope cruz was making video games then sure, a fuss would be acceptable. but she's just a moderately attractive woman. the fact so many male gamers are clearly going crazy over her just adds to the stereotype of sexually starved loners who never go outside. which is embarassing and reflects badly on the male gamers who aren't

I was with you right up until you started talking about her looks. Whether she's hot or not or even average it doesn't matter. Give Ubisoft some credit it's refreshing to see a female face out there and yeah they may have been hyping her up but did you stop to think that maybe they were doing that to encourage more diversity. But on another note the posts on here are not just an embarrassment to gamers but to humankind all together!
