I remember seeing this movie on it's first release in Sydney at the Barclay. Very few patrons unfortunately. What was interesting is that it was supported by The Blues Brothers, making it's first release and also ignored (at the time). We all know how big the Blues Brothers became later though.

May be prophetic looking at what those morons are doing with the LHC Converter, trying to replicate the Big Bang.

You are right, the ending does feature Kate's mental breakdown. Interestingly, a few years ago, Hazel said (when speaking of Kate's character), that she would have recovered and gone on with her music, having learned from her experiences.

I hear that the actual british cut of BREAKING GLASS(which this song is in)features a different ending in which Hazel's character ends up in sanitatrium having suffered a complete drug induced mental breakdown but the version released in the states ends with her doing this song and then rolls the closing credits. Pity this film did not get a big push from PARAMOUNT at hte itme it was released
